INNOVATIVE SOUND SCAPES
Felicity Groom is an acclaimed Western Australian singer-songwriter and producer known for her genre-blending sound that fuses indie-pop, electronic, dream-pop, and folk into richly layered, immersive experiences. With over two decades of experience in the WA music scene, Groom has consistently pushed creative boundaries, earning recognition for her experimental approach and collaborative spirit.
As a non-Indigenous artist, Groom actively engages with themes of inclusivity and cultural respect, often acknowledging the influence and significance of First Nations voices within the broader Australian music landscape. Her multidisciplinary works - such as Galactagogue and Magnetic Resonance Centre - reflect a deep commitment to diversity in storytelling, blending sound, visuals, and performance in ways that honour both personal and collective narratives across cultural lines.
Magnetic Resonance Centre (2020), her third album, was predominantly self-recorded and produced in her home, amidst the challenges of raising two young children. The album features collaborations with renowned artists, including Kevin Parker of Tame Impala, and showcases Groom's evolution as a producer. Tracks like "Dance For None" and "Red Dust" exemplify her ability to intertwine personal experiences with innovative soundscapes.
In addition to her musical endeavors, Groom has contributed to the arts community through projects like Galactagogue, a performance that intertwines themes of motherhood, technology, and nature, reflecting her multifaceted artistic vision.
