2pm - 2.45pm Angie Colman

A Warmly Spun Yarn

Angie Colman is a singer/songwriter and guitarist hailing from the Perth hills, Western Australia. With clean, crisp guitar melodies and powerful, resounding vocals, Angie can be likened to leading ladies in the indie/rock scene such as Stella Donnelly or Julia Jacklin.

Her influences include Bon Iver, Matt Corby, Courtney Barnett, and Hiatus Kaiyote.

“A warmly spun yarn - like Lahey and Barnett's lil protegee.” - Dave Ruby Howe, 2019, on Cigarette Talk.

Currently, Angie is recording her next single “Maths” at Poons Head Studios with Nick Ireland. Her first EP release, ‘Alma’, debuted in March of 2020. Recorded by WAM Vice President, Noah Shilkin, in Margaret River, the album is an eclectic mix of sounds and songs Angie wrote over 2018/2019.

Angie currently plays live with Miles Gilbert on drums (The Washing Line Economy, Michael Dunstan), and Kieran Barnes on bass (Wayjo), who have helped move her sound into a more homogenous, indie/pop-rock entity.

Angie has played alongside Perth greats such as Last Quokka, Tanaya Harper, Bass Lemon, Salary, and Dulcie.

“First, to kick off the powerful night was singer/songwriter Angie Colman with her strong, compelling voice. Angie’s lyrics are warm, soulful and charismatic. She gave us a sneak peak of her new EP Alma’, which drops on the 28th of this month and we cannot wait to download and add onto our playlists. As daunting as a one-woman show sounds, Angie sure showed us how it’s done. She is definitely going to thrive through her new album as she continues to inspire those young female aspiring artists.” – Toasty Tunes,2020
